Saturated and Unsaturated Fatty Acid

Saturated fatty acid

All Carbon Atoms are fully attached with or saturated with Hydrogen atoms called saturated fatty acid.Saturated fats have no double bonds in the carbon chain When they combined with glycerol they form solid saturated fat. The longer the chain of C & H the harder the fat is.

Unsaturated fatty acid

Some Carbon atoms do not have Hydrogen atoms attached to them that fatty acid is called unsaturated. It combines with glycerol gives rise to liquid unsaturated fats. The larger  the number of unattached Carbon atoms [ poly unsaturated ] the more liquid  and unsaturated the fat is . There are three types of Unsaturated fatty acids.

  1. Mono saturated fatty acid
  2. Poly saturated fatty acid
  3. Trans fatty acids

Unsaturated fatty acids have at least one bond in the carbon chain. Fats with only one bond in the carbon chains is a monounsaturated fatty acid.

A fatty acid having several double –C=C-C-C-=C- bonds is a polyunsaturated fatty acid.

Trans fats are artificial unsaturated fats formed when

hydrogen gas reacts with vegetable oil to create a solid.

Trans fats not only raise cholesterol levels and interfere

with metabolic processes, but they also deplete good HDL

cholesterol, which helps protect against heart disease.

  1. Good start for the article, However , You should have add couple of more things to complete the article as ,
What are the natural forms of All acids e.g. Dalda Ghee , Palm oil , Vegetable seasoning comes under Trans Fat. It's my take that you should add the side effects of saturated and unsaturated fats in the Blog. It will be great to see that , How "Pranayam" help to reduce the cholesterol , Blood Pressure caused by these fatty acids . When you breathe heavily , technically , you are consuming more O2 and in result removing CO2 , it means more carbon is coming out from the respiratory system AND not only that air is full of N2 , which helps in other way also to decompose these acids and improve digestion system. Just a thought to make your article complete.
I have offended to you , Please accept my apologies.

    Thanks
