Huna was first described by Max freedom Long .Max worked and lived in Hawaii during the 1920's. He taught school mostly to Hawaiian children on the island of Molokai. During his stay on Molokai he became aware that the Hawaiians often talked among themselves of a form of Magical healing . Most Hawaiians rejected western outside doctors and used a more secret traditional psychological form of healing system . Over a period of several years Max picked up little bits and pieces of information on what he was to eventually call Huna.
The Hawaiian Islands were for thousands of years the home of an extraordinary group of people known as The Kahuna . Today they are believed to be totally extinct, some of them alive practicing their mysterious art.
The Kahuna , to correctly define them , were the pagan holy men, or priests, of the Polynesian speaking peoples. The word Kahuna is a joining together of two Polynesian word Ka and Huna . Ka means Keeper and Huna means Secret , so Kahuna is a Keeper of the Secrets .
But a keeper of which Secrets ? The secret to the Kahuna was The Hidden Art of Miracles. It was the Ancient or forbidden Knowledge ,the Hidden Knowledge of Wise Ones.The Kahuna, or Keepers of the Secret ,were highly revered persons in Hawaiian community, respected because of their mysterious knowledge and practices.
How did Kahuna come by this Knowledge, nobody seems to know. The Kahunas passed it from father to son, mother to daughter,for generations after generations,century after century. It was never written down being passed only through the secrets language of Huna which was never understood by the ordinary Polynesian .
A few outsider ,most notably the well known Huna authority Max Freedom Long were taken into their confidence but then only after many years of tactful and preserving attempts of friendship on the part of those concerned.
Huna is not a religion.It is science , a science of extremely advanced system of Human - psychology . Huna is a way of looking at universe and understanding how it operates.
Huna Kahuna's system of psychology was more sophisticated , more advanced and more important and more workable than the psychological theory of Sigmund Freud, William James, Carl Rogers , Erick Erickson , George Herbert Mead etc.
Compared to Huna Psychology the modern methods look incomplete because they do not satisfactorily help people why they so often fail to reach their goals and why they fail to get results even after sincerely following the instructions of .....thinking positively and ....visualizing the attainments of their goals.

My husband and i got Married last year and we have been living happily for a while.
